Underground Locations Ancillary Activities Tabs
You use the ancillary activities tabs to set the properties for each activity for the locations selected in the 3D Canvas.
The tabs for any ancillary activities are located on the Properties tab of the Location Properties pane on the right of the Setup Schedule > Locations > Underground tab. One tab exists for each ancillary activity that you added to the scenario in the Activities tab. For example, if you added activities for Drilling and Blasting, a Drilling tab and a Blasting tab appear on the Location Properties pane.
Fields on the Properties Tabs for Ancillary Activities
Active
The Active check box allows you to select whether the activity occurs at the location or locations selected in the 2D or 3D Canvas.
When the Active check box is selected, the activity does occur at the locations. When the Active check box is cleared, the activity does not occur at the locations.
Work
You use the Work section to specify the quantity of work for the activity in the location.
The combination of the work defined and the activity rate determine how long it takes to complete the activity at the location. The fields in the Work section change depending on the Quantity selected.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Quantity |
The method used to define the quantity of work for the activity. Options are:
|
| Value |
The value for the quantity of work for the location. If the Split locations by polygon / object check box is selected for the activity on the Activity Properties pane, the Value is the quantity of work required for each split of the location. If the Split locations by polygon / object check box is cleared for the activity on the Activity Properties pane, the Value is the quantity of work for the entire location. The Value can be any number greater than or equal to zero.
|
| Expression |
The calculation that expresses the work in terms of the volume or mass of the material in the location.
|
| Material classes |
The material classes on which the relative quantity is calculated. When you define the material classes, you can define the activity quantities that are relative to the volume of a material class in the location, for example only ore or only waste. If you do not define the material classes, the quantities for the total volume of all material in the location are calculated.
|
| CSV file |
When a CSV file is specified, the activity quantity is read from the CSV file. Using a CSV file for work values can be useful if blastholes have been designed and used to create a CSV file of the drill metres. The work associated with multiple activities, locations, and polygons can exist within the same CSV file. The format of the headers in the file is Activity, Location, Quantity, and Polygon.
|
| Unit |
The unit in which the work is measured. The unit is not used during scheduling, but it is useful to define the unit because activity work quantities can be defined in any units. The unit recorded in this field provides context for the value or expression for work defined in the CSV file. If you publish to Microsoft Project, the unit is used in the Gantt chart. You can type any value in this field. For example, the unit could be drill metres, cubic metres of backfill, or days. |
Sequence
When the Split locations by polygons / objects check box is selected for the activity on the Activity Properties pane, the Sequence section is displayed for the activity. You use the Sequence fields to define the sequence for the activity, in terms of the order of polygons or objects in the location.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Use custom sequence |
|
| Choose graphically |
Opens the Graphical Sequencer, which you can use to select the sequence for your polygons or objects graphically. When you use Graphical Sequencer the 3D Canvas, reports, and charts are updated as you select the polygons or objects. Updating the 3D Canvas, reports, and charts helps you to choose the best polygon sequence. |
Delays
You use the Delays section to define the delay, in days, before the activity can start in the location and after the activity is complete in the entire location. If the Split locations by polygons / objects check box is selected for the activity on the Activity Properties pane, the Between splits field becomes available in the Delays section.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Before activity |
The delay, in days, after the location becomes available for this activity, before the activity can start. |
| After activity |
The delay, in days, after this activity finishes in the entire location, before the next activity can start in the location. |
| Between splits |
The delay, in days between when the activity finishes in one split of the location and when the same activity can start in the next split of the location. |
Precedences
You use the Precedences section to define the precedence rules that control when activities become available.
The precedence rules define an activity as available when another activity is partially complete or complete in another location. If the Split locations by polygons / objects check box is selected for the activity on the Activity Properties pane, the Splitting options are added to the Precedences section. The splitting options allow you to define precedence rules based on activities being carried out at the same split at another location, or at the previous split at the same location.
